Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl offer a wide selection of Pokémon for players to catch and battle with, especially postgame. Electric-type Mareep is one of the Pokémon which gamers can look forward to upon completion of the main story. Here’s how to find and evolve the electrically charged sheep.
How to get Mareep in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Mareep is located in the grassy areas of Valley Windworks in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
To get Mareep, you will need to beat the elite four and obtain the National PokeDex and Poke Radar. Then, go to Floaroma Town and make your way to Valley Windworks. Use your Poke Radar in the patch of grass in Valley Windworks, and hope for a Mareep encounter. You may find Buizel and other Pokemon, but just reset the Poke Radar and try again until you successfully find a Mareep.
If trainers want a stronger Mareep (or Flaaffy), they can go to the Whiteout Cave, Grassland Cave, or Sunlit Cavern hideaways in the Grand Underground. Flaaffy is a rare spawn, so it may be easier to catch Mareep instead. If neither one is in the specified hideaway, exit the room and go back in.
While Mareep will not appear in a random encounter, that’s when the Poké Radar comes in handy. Using the device outside the Valley Windworks will give players a 12% chance of encountering a Mareep, which will be between levels 8-9. Another tip, having an Electric-type Pokémon with the ability Static at the front of the party will increase the chances of encountering another Electric-type Pokémon, including Mareep, by 50%.
